This Privacy Policy describes how Shumba Tech LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you use the Clarity mobile application (the "Service"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. Please read this policy carefully — it explains what we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.
1. Definitions
Throughout this policy, the following terms have specific meanings. "Company," "we," "us," or "our" refers to Shumba Tech LLC, based in the United States. "Device" means any internet-connected device used to access the Service. "Personal Data" means any information that allows for the identification of a natural person. "Service" refers to the Clarity mobile application. "You" refers to the person registered with Shumba Tech LLC to use the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personally identifiable information you provide when creating an account, including your email address, first and last name, and password. We may also collect usage data such as your device's IP address, browser type, pages visited within the Service, time and date of visits, time spent on pages, and unique device identifiers. This information is collected to provide and improve the Service.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the Service, notify you about changes, allow you to participate in interactive features, provide customer support, gather analysis to improve the Service, monitor usage, detect and address technical issues, and send you relevant information about Clarity (which you can opt out of at any time). We will only use your information for the purposes described in this policy or with your explicit consent.
4. Third-Party Services
Clarity uses the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy and terms of service, and each has access to your Personal Data only to perform tasks on our behalf:
- Supabase — Authentication and database storage
- RevenueCat — Subscription management
- OpenAI — AI-powered journaling features
- Firebase — Analytics and push notifications
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Cloud infrastructure (Privacy Policy)
5. Retention of Your Personal Data
We retain your Personal Data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period unless needed to strengthen security or improve functionality of the Service.
6. Transfer of Your Personal Data
Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside your jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. If you are located outside the United States, please note that we transfer and process your data in the United States. By using Clarity and submitting your information, you consent to this transfer. We take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this policy.
7. Disclosure of Your Personal Data
We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities such as a court or government agency. We may also disclose your data to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend the rights or property of Shumba Tech LLC, prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service, or protect the personal safety of users or the public.
If Shumba Tech LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
8. Security of Your Personal Data
The security of your Personal Data is important to us. We implement commercially acceptable security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us at hello@recordwithclarity.com and we will take steps to remove that information from our servers.
10. Your Data Protection Rights
Regardless of your location, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and the right to request that we delete your personal information. 11. CCPA Rights (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which took effect January 1, 2020. You have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third parties. We will respond to verified California requests within 45 days. 12. Service Providers
We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service, provide the Service on our behalf, perform Service-related services, or assist us in analyzing how the Service is used. These parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
13. Links to Other Sites
Our Service may contain links to other sites not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. We will also notify you via email or a prominent notice in the App prior to the change becoming effective. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
