This Privacy Policy describes how Relentless Forge ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you use the Clarity mobile application and the recordwithclarity.com website (together, the "Service"). Clarity is built around a simple idea: your journal is yours. Please read this policy carefully — it explains what we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

1. Where Your Journal Lives

Your recordings, transcripts, photos, videos, and mood check-ins are stored in a database on your device. Speech-to-text runs on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync (it is off by default), your journal is additionally stored in your own private iCloud database, under your Apple ID, on Apple's infrastructure — we cannot read it. Your journal content is not stored on our servers.

2. Information We Collect

In the App. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple issues for you and, only if you choose to share them, your name and email address. We also receive your subscription status (via RevenueCat) and a push notification token (via OneSignal) if you allow notifications. Face ID authentication is performed entirely by iOS on your device; biometric data never reaches us.

On the website. If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you submit. Our website analytics are anonymized: we do not store your IP address — visits are recorded under a one-way, daily-rotating hash that cannot identify you or follow you across days.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the Service, manage your subscription, send notifications you have asked for (such as your daily journaling reminder), notify you about changes, provide customer support, understand aggregate usage of our website, detect and address technical issues, and send you relevant information about Clarity (which you can opt out of at any time). We do not sell your personal information, we do not show advertising, and we do not use your journal content to train AI models.

4. Third-Party Services

Clarity uses a small number of third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy, and each has access only to what it needs to perform its task:

How AI insights work. When you request an insight in the App, a digest of your recent entries is sent to our server and processed by our AI provider to write your reflection. This happens only when you ask for it, the digest is deleted from our server once your insight is written, and your words are never used to train AI models.

5. Retention of Your Personal Data

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, or as required by law. Website page-view records are automatically deleted after 90 days. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Your journal content lives on your device (and, if you enable sync, in your private iCloud) — deleting the App and your iCloud data removes it; it is not retained by us.

6. Transfer of Your Personal Data

The limited personal data we do process may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside your jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. If you are located outside the United States, please note that we process data in the United States. We take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this policy.

7. Disclosure of Your Personal Data

We may disclose personal data we hold if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities such as a court or government agency, to protect and defend the rights or property of Relentless Forge, to prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service, or to protect the personal safety of users or the public. Note that your journal content is not in our possession to disclose.

If Relentless Forge is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal data we hold may be transferred. We will provide notice before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

8. Security of Your Personal Data

The security of your data is important to us. Your journal is protected by your device's security (including Face ID lock if you enable it) and, when synced, by Apple's iCloud security. For the data we do process, we implement commercially reasonable security measures. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@recordwithclarity.com and we will take steps to remove that information.

10. Your Data Protection Rights

Regardless of your location, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and the right to request that we delete it. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. To submit a request, contact us at hello@recordwithclarity.com. (Your journal content is under your direct control — delete it in the App, or remove the App and its iCloud data.)

11. CCPA Rights (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third parties. We will respond to verified California requests within 45 days. To exercise your rights, contact us at hello@recordwithclarity.com.

12. Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service, provide the Service on our behalf, or assist us in analyzing how the Service is used. These parties have access to personal data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

13. Links to Other Sites

Our Service may contain links to other sites not operated by us. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date. We will also notify you via email or a prominent notice in the App prior to the change becoming effective. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
